D8188 is owned by Some of the Somerset & Dorset Loco Company and had a number early history of different homes the locomotive in preservation before arriving can be seen in photographs on the SVR in July 2007Preserved Diesels website. Following 20188 was fitted with mock armour for an appearance as a period of maintenance at Washwood Heath Russian locomotive in 2015the 1995 Bond film GoldenEye, it returned filmed on the SVR in February 2016Nene Valley Railway [http://www.preserved-diesels.co.uk/2006a/20188_2.htm (Link)].<ref> In August 1995 the locomotive was owned by Waterman Railways and photographed at Crewe [http://www.svrpreserved-diesels.co.uk/MeetTheLoco2004/20188_10.aspx?id=90 SVR "Meet The Loco" web pagehtm (Link)]</ref>.
The locomotive's present owner, the [[Somerset & Dorset Loco Company | Somerset & Dorset Locomotive Company]], was incorporated in 2000. Photographs after this date show the locomotive at the Mid-Hants Railway (2001-2002) and the Swanage Railway (2003-2007). In July 2007 the locomotive was lent to the SVR to assist with rebuilding following the [[2007 Storm Damage | storm damage]].<ref>SVR News 166</ref> The locomotive saw frequent use in the following months.<ref>SVR News 161</ref> In winter 2008/09 an agreement was reached for the locomotive to become a permanent member of the SVR fleet.<ref>SVR News 164</ref> Following a period of maintenance at Washwood Heath in 2015, D8188 returned the SVR in February 2016.<ref>[http://www.svr.co.uk/MeetTheLoco.aspx?id== Links ==90 SVR "Meet The Loco" web page]<references /ref>
