20177 is was a BR Class 20 [[UIC classification | Bo-Bo]] diesel-electric locomotive, otherwise known as an English Electric Type 1. 228 of these locomotives were built The locomotive was resident on the SVR between 1957 2010 and 1968. Weighing 73 tonnes and delivering 1,000 horsepower, they were designed to work light mixed freight traffic at up to 75 mph. Members 2017 as a source of spare parts for the class are nicknamed “Choppers” because of the distinctive engine beat under load which resembles the sound of a helicopterowning group's other locomotives.

20177 was moved to Boden Rail, Washwood Heath in September 2014 to be further stripped for spares<ref>[http://www.uklocos.com/final-results.asp?action=display&Id=6765 UKLocos.com]</ref>, following which it returned to Kidderminster circa February 2015<ref>Railway Illustrated</ref>.
In October Following the departure of the owning group's other two locomotives in September 2017, 20177 left the SVR by road, in October 2017 and was photographed at the scrapyard of C.F.
