}}'''BR DB996730''' is a '''60ft Bogie Bolster / Rail Carrier DB 996730 ''' and is one of 95 built for BR by Cravens of Sheffield in 1950 to the former GWR 40 ton 'GANE Adesign. The SVR' design (Diagram J29), of which the SVR’s s [[GWR 60841 Bogie Bolster | 60841]] is an exampleof the original GANE A first built in 1935 to Diagram 36. The 60ft length allowed standard length rails to be carried, with the wagon having a 40-ton capacity.  996730 was built to a modified GANE A design (Diagram J29) which was introduced in 1940 and incorporated two independent long lever brakes instead of the GWR's pre-War DC brakes. It However it was never vacuum-fitted, which led to an early retirement.<ref name=SB9>SVR Stock Book Ninth Edition</ref><ref>Railway Heritage Register Wagon Survey</ref> During the BR era, the Western Region commonly continued to use GWR-era Telegraph codes for Civil Engineers wagons rather than adopting the 'fish' codes used elsewhere<ref name=Larkin>[[Bibliography#Other References|Larkin Vol 1 (2011), p.54.]]</ref>.
