707261 began life as a Container Flat (CONFLAT A), built by BRBritish Rail or British Railways at Ashford in 1957. It was later converted for use as a crane runner for Hand Crane GWR 446, the crane and runner being numbered I/U 060982 and 060983 respectively.

The hand crane and crane runner arrived on the SVRSevern Valley Railway in December 1982 from Bristol, having been acquired by The GWR 813 Preservation Fund. Both are stored in the ‘Bewdley Triangle’, the junction of the Stourport Branch and the present day SVRSevern Valley Railway south of Bewdley.
