It was initially preserved in 1984 as part of Waterman Railways charter fleet at Bounds Green. It came to the SVR in 1996, initially on lease, but was subsequently purchased by [[Severn Valley Railway (Holdings) PLC | SVR(H)]].
==Service and preservation==3109 entered service as M3109 in BR's Midland region in January 1963.<ref name=Longworth>[[Bibliography#Other References|Longworth (2013)]] p.44.</ref> In November 1984 it received a Private Owner number, PULR99123, later shortened to 123 and named 'Grace' as part of Waterman Railways charter fleet at Bounds Green. It is usually used was one of three carriages, together with [[Carriages formerly resident on the SVR#Carriages formerly at the SVR but later moved elsewhere | FO 3106]] and [[Carriages formerly resident on the SVR#Carriages scrapped while at the SVR | RBR 1678]], which were acquired from there by the SVR as a restaurant vehiclein 1996, having seen use in both the initially on lease but subsequently purchased by [[Severn Valley Limited and Severn Valley Venturer dining setsRailway (Holdings) PLC | SVR(H)]].
