- 1949 Eardington station became unstaffed, although BR did not reduce the station to halt status.
- 1951 Stourport South signal box was taken out of use by BR.
- 1974 Bridgnorth was demoted to rural borough status, losing its powers to spend money maintaining the footbridge outside the station. The bridge was demolished in 1976 and not replaced until 1994.
- 1985 Steam Railway magazine published the notorious City of Truro "April fool" article.
