Lost Empires was a 1986 Granada Television adaptation of J. B. Priestley's novel of the same name, starring Colin Firth and Laurence Olivier. Filming of railway scenes and locomotives including [[LMS Ivatt Class 2 46443]] at [[Arley]] took place on the SVR the previous autumn<ref>SVR News 78/79</ref>.
