On September 6 in SVR history.
- 1972: GWR carriages 9055, 9369 and 9627 arrived on the SVR.
- 1980: The annual Enthusiasts Weekend on 6-7 September was considered the most successful to date, with more than 6,000 visitors.
- 1982 LNWR 3020 Cornwall returned by road to the NRM at York after a period in residence on the SVR. A planned restoration could not be carried out as the cost of boiler repairs proved prohibitive.[1]
- 2016 The Heritage Lottery Fund Committee for West Midlands declined a grant application for Falling Sands Viaduct. A successful application followed in 2019.
- 2017 The Shropshire Star reported a contractor had been appointed to handle the first stage of demolition at the former Ironbridge power station[2].
- 2025: Saturday of a joint "SVR and GB Railfreight weekend", with modern traction represented by visiting GBRf mainline diesel locomotives. The day was advertised as 40106 Atlantic Conveyor's last day in service before leaving the SVR.
