- 1965 The Warwickshire Railway Society's 'Pennine Railtour' took ex-LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman to Carlisle.[1]
- 1973 LMS Jinty 47383 first steamed on the SVR.
- 1985 Newly restored GWR 3717 City of Truro took part in a press 'run past' at Highley.[2]
- 1993 Prince and Princess Michael of Kent visited the SVR aboard a VSOE 'Orient Express' charter. LMR 600 Gordon took over the incoming trip.[3]
- 2017 BR Class 42 D821 Greyhound returned to the SVR following three years at Old Oak Common, where it was undergoing overhaul.
- 2018 Delivery of 70000 Britannia from Crewe to Bridgnorth was filmed for later broadcast in the UKTV programme Train Tuckers.
- 2020: The first advertised diesel trains in the year ran.
- 2021: A group of volunteers organised an 'SVR O Gauge event' on 4-5 September with five layouts at The Engine House, including Burlish Road in O gauge.
