On September 17 in SVR history.
- 1989 D1013 Western Ranger attended an open day at Gloucester.[1]
- 1990 4472 Flying Scotsman arrived on the SVR for a month's visit. Owner Sir William McAlpine was present on the day of arrival.[2]
- 2016 Newly overhauled BR Class 50 50031 Hood was re-dedicated in a ceremony at Kidderminster.
- 2021: In its first mainline outing since suffering a major B engine failure in 2016, D1015 Western Champion suffered a seized engine during a test run.
- 2021: The Autumn Steam Gala featured guests GWR 4953 Pitchford Hall and GWR 0-6-0PT 9466. GWR 813 suffered from leaking boiler tubes and was withdrawn on Friday 17.
- 2022: Saturday of the 4-day Autumn Steam Gala with three guest locomotives in service. The event was billed as featuring the return to service of 4930 Hagley Hall, but the locomotive was withdrawn after a number of lineside fires on the first two days.
- 2023: Sunday of the 4-day Autumn Steam Gala which featured timetabled trains stopping at Eardington for the first time in more than four decades. The guest locomotives were: 401 Vulcan, 2253 Omaha, 41312 and 61306 Mayflower.
