6168 in preservationAfter BRBritish Rail or British Railways service it was purchased by 2012. It is one of a of a rake of Mark 2 vehicles operated by Eastern Rail Services (ERS) and based on the Mid-Norfolk Railway (MNR), where it is used on services. The rake is also from time-to-time hired to other railways, in particular the Weardale Railway for their Polar Express trains.

One such hire was in May 2017 to the SVRSevern Valley RailwaySVRA:Severn Valley Railway AssociationSVRS:Severn Valley Railway Society for the Spring Diesel Festival, its air-braking capability being used by visiting mainline locomotives. 6168 was painted in BRBritish Rail or British Railways Intercity livery.
