Overview

The Midlands Division extended as far as Buildwas Junction, with stations to the north falling under the Shrewsbury District. For convenience this working timetable therefore included times for Shrewsbury as the terminus for the Branch, but not the intermediate stations and halts at Cressage, Cound Halt and Berrington.

The timetable broadly followed the pattern in use in 1959 and 1960 with four through trains in each direction, although the final train in each direction no longer involved a length delay which increased the journey time to around three hours. In summary the principal timings were:

From Shrewsbury:

  • 6.40am to Hartlebury (arr 8.52am)
  • 1.45pm to Kidderminster (arr 3.52pm)
  • 4.20pm to Hartlebury (arr 6.11pm)
  • 5.32pm to Kidderminster (arr 7.40pm)

To Shrewsbury:

  • 7.00am from Hartlebury (arr 8.50am)
  • 2.05pm from Kidderminster (arr 3.52pm)
  • 4.23pm from Kidderminster (arr 6.35pm)
  • 6.22pm from Hartlebury (arr 8.26pm)

On Sundays a service ran at the south end of the line, reaching as far north as Bridgnorth.

Passenger services between Woofferton and Tenbury had ended in July 1961. The single passenger train per day between Tenbury and Bewdley shown in the timetable continued on a trial basis for a further year but ended in July 1962.
