It is well documented that OVS BulleidOliver Vaughan Snell Bulleid, Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) of the Southern Railway 1937-1948 used a mixed derivative of the Whyte and UICUnion Internationale des Chemins de fer (International Union of Railways) notations as part of the number of his Pacifics when first built. i.e. 21Cxxx.
