The line then reached Sutton Bridge Junction, which saw the junction of three railways. First, the Severn Valley Line branched off to the southeast. For a distance of 18 chains it was double track, due to a Board of Trade requirement of the time that junctions of single lines, either with double lines or with other single lines, were made double junctions. A few yards further on, the Shropshire and Montgomeryshire Welshpool Railway branched off towards to the west, leading enabling trains to Llanymynech, Wales, with a branch to Criggionreach the Cambrian Railways system at Welshpool. The Shrewsbury & Hereford Railway then continued southwards towards [[Woofferton]], where it met the [[Tenbury Branch]] from Bewdley.
