==Organisation==
The '8F Preservation Society' was formed at the end of steam on British Railways in 1968 to preserve one of the Stanier 8F 2-8-0 locomotives. It became The Stanier 8F Locomotive Society Limited, Company number 00990440, a Private company limited by guarantee without share capital. The Society is a Registered Charity, number 261751. It operates a paid membership and all members receive 'Black Eight' magazine, which is published periodically. In recent years the Society has operated a [[List of shops|sales stand]] at galas and special events on the SVR and other railways.
