D2957 in Preservation
319290 was the first Ruston and Hornsby shunter acquired by the SVR, being purchased from B.I.P by SVR(H) in March 1972. Originally the locomotive had no number other than its works number 319290, although it was commonly referred to as the “Red Ruston”. It saw regular use in the SVR’s early days on Engineers’ trains, but as of 2015 it acts as yard shunter at in Bewdley Down Yard where it carries a BR livery with the number D2957. It is maintained by the Bewdley Carriage & Wagon Department.
