Before the comissioning of Kidderminster signal box, the connections to Platform 1 were controlled by a ground frame, which was unlocked by the Bewdley South-Kidderminster staff. The signal box was commissioned on 21/11/1987, which is thought to be when the ground frame was taken out of use.

The points at the far end of Platform 1 were controlled independently of the ground frame, with the frame itself controlling at least the points to Platform 1/1 Engine Line and the catch points in 1EL. It is thought that the frame had at least six levers, and may also controlled the connections to BRBritish Rail or British Railways and what are now the Carriage Works. There may also have been access to the Carriage Sidings.
