*1848 The Sun (London) reported that the building of the SVR "although delayed, is not abandoned".<ref>"SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY.—We find that this project, although delayed, is not abandoned, the promoters having now put themselves in a position to proceed with it as soon as the proper time shall arrive; the connexion which the proposed line will give is an important one, and the districts to be accommodated by it much in want of a railway. We observe that the undertaking has the support of all the interests affected by it."
