In service these 6-wheel Tool Vans carried a large selection of equipment and lifting tackle, and were paired with Riding/Dormitory Vans. They were vacuum-braked to permit fast running to the scene of accidents and breakdowns on the railway. 112 was based at nearby Stourbridge Shed, and was paired with short wheelbase Riding Van [[GWR 118 Tool/Riding Van | GWR 118]].
Both 112 and 118 arrived on the SVR from Stourbridge in May 1968. <ref>SVR Stock Book Ninth Edition</ref> 112 is photographed in March 2015 situated in the yard at [[Bewdley]].
