The entire 9-coach test train was sold into preservation in 1969, with four coaches being bought for the SVR and the others by Didcot.<ref>SVR Stock Book Ninth Edition</ref> The four acquired by the SVR were restored between 1970 and 1973, and saw service on [[The Severn Valley Railway on the main line#SVR Carriages used on the main line | SVR excursions on the main line]] as well as on the SVR itself. Heritage carriages used on the main line were assigned TOPS numbers, with 1116 being number 99231.<ref>Railway Heritage Register Carriage Survey</ref>
1116 was repainted at Bridgnorth between May and July 2019.<ref>GW(SVR)A Newsletter, Summer 2019</ref> {{As of|2019}}, 1116 is in service and is normally used in [[Carriages#The carriage sets|set GW2GW]]. It is finished in GWR 1934-42 livery featuring the ‘shirt-button’ roundel. It is owned by [[Great Western (SVR) Assoc. | The Great Western (SVR) Association]].
