D1013 was bought privately from BR by a member of the [[Western Locomotive Association]] in May 1977. Following purchase the locomotive was repainted in original maroon livery. In company with [[BR Class 52 D1062 Western Courier|D1062 Western Courier]], D1013 moved to the Paignton & Dartmouth Railway, and following tyre turning at Cardiff Canton both arrived on the SVR on 29 September 1978.
As of November 2015, D1013 has been undergoing an extended overhaul since 2009. It is currently planned to return to service in 2018<ref>[http://www.westernlocomotives.co.uk WLA Website], retrieved 10/11/2015</ref>
