DR73202 was built in 1973 as works number 1041, and allocated BR Departmental number DB965957.<ref name=Butcher>Roger Butcher, ‘Track Machines, Second Edition’ (1985)</ref> It was initially allocated to the London Midland Region<ref>[[Bibliography#Other References|Larkin Vol 2 (2012)]] p.41.</ref> In 1985 it was in use in the Birmingham area.<ref name=Butcher/>
OnTrackPlant.com last recorded this machine as owned by B&R Track Services. It has been photographed at the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley between 1999 and 2002, at the SVR in 2007, and at the Llangollen Railway in 2009. By 2011 it had returned to the SVR.<ref>[http://www.ontrackplant.com/otp/73202 Photos on OntrackPlant.Com]</ref>. It is seen stabled at Highley and was in use 12/13 June 2019.<ref>[https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10156438680809021&set=pcb.10156382410261989&type=3&theater&ifg=1 Davies, M., SVR Unofficial Facebook, 12 June 2019]</ref> It was again in use on 23 July 2019 to tamp a section of track between Highley and Hampton Loade following repairs resulting from the derailment of [[75069]] by a fallen tree; the second picture shows it returning to Highley propelled by [[Diesel Locomotives hired by the SVR|BR Class 37 37688 Great Rocks]].
Since 2014, [[Other rolling stock visiting the SVR|other rolling stock visiting the SVR]] has included other Plasser and Theurer Switch and Crossing Tampers such as DR73309 and DR73903.
