It is a 25 foot 4-wheel 4-plank open wagon with a capacity 70000 Britannia was the first of 14 tons, the R.A. Riddles designed British Railways standard locomotives to carry steel pipes. It originally had the telegraphic code 'Open C'be built, later re-coded ‘Tube’ during emerging from the 1940sCrewe workshops in January 1951. It 70000 was acquired for preservation from Wolverton Carriage Worksrenamed ‘Britannia’ at a ceremony on 20 May 1978 by Mr R A Riddles, arriving on the SVR in May 1988locomotive’s designer.
