== 08896 in main line service ==
08896 was built at Horwich Works and entered BR service as D4126 in April 1962 at Ebbw Junction (Newport), moving to Landore in May 1969. In June 1974 D4126 became No 08896 under the TOPS numbering scheme, being withdrawn from service in February 2004.<ref>[http://www.brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?action=locodata&type=D&id=4126&loco=08896 BRDatabase website]</ref>.

08896 arrived on the SVR in late 2009, missing its centre pair of wheels. The SVR web site shows a status of “For parts retrieval at Kidderminster”.<ref>[http://www.svr.co.uk/MeetTheLoco.aspx?id=90 SVR "Meet The Loco" web page]</ref>It subsequently moved around the Kidderminster site as space allowed. In 2024 it was 'increasingly becoming an eyesore' and was removed from the [[Turntable Fund|Kidderminster turntable area]] to [[Kidderminster Carriage Shed]] for further storage<ref>Rail Express, June 2024, p.21</ref>.
