Summary
DescriptionNewnham Station down platform and shelter (geograph 4329083).jpg |
English: Newnham Station down platform and shelter I snuck into the grounds of the station to take this ... I probably wasn't supposed to but no one noticed so that's ok. Photos from a couple of years ago show this building resplendent in fresh GWR style paint and the whole former trackbed area being used to display garden plants. What a sad contrast to how it looks today. The main station building - just visible to the right of the shot - is boarded up and looking decidedly sorry for itself. The station closed to passengers in August 1962 and to freight in January 1964, although the line had closed completely between Woofferton and Tenbury Wells in July 1961, before Dr Beeching could get his hands on it. |
