The Singing Detective
The Singing Detective was a noir-styled 1986 six-part BBC TV serial drama, written by Dennis Potter and starring Michael Gambon. Tormented and bedridden by a debilitating disease, a mystery writer relives his wartime childhood in the Forest of Dean and Chandleresque detective stories through his imagination and hallucinations, with himself in the title role.
