I thought I'd raised this before but can't find it. Turley mentions that the Summerfield Siding was built in 1943 during World War II and had its own security fence. However he doesn't say who owned it or what it was used for. I naturally thought of the nearby Summerfield Research Station which although not not set up by the Ministry of Supply until 1951, was apparently built on the site of a World War II munitions factory. So was the Summerfield Siding associated with that munitions factory and if so, what was being shipped though it? Or was it built for some other purpose? Any thoughts? --Robin (talk) 15:47, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

:A quick look on my way out says there's books reported here and here but to what extent it covers the pre-1951 era I don't know, I'm afraid. I wonder if an enquiry to the local Kidder FB site would give some pointers?--Patrick Hearn (talk) 09:33, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

A quick look on my way out says there's books reported here and here but to what extent it covers the pre-1951 era I don't know, I'm afraid. I wonder if an enquiry to the local Kidder FB site would give some pointers?--Patrick Hearn (talk) 09:33, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
