I seem to remember in one of the "Doctor" comedy series that Doctor Bingham (Richard O'Sullivan) got his foot stuck in a gap at a level crossing - the one to the water works just north of Hampton Loade. Didn't he get a footplate ride (including mandatory frying of food on shovel) and a bit of work with the PWPermanent Way at Arley? Rosie and Jim

I am convinced that an episode of the children's series "Rosie and Jim" featured their canal boat going under Victoria Bridge with 8233 stopping on the bridge and whistling. I can't find it anywhere though. Anyone else want to try? --Patrick Hearn (talk) 16:55, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

It's not the obvious "Steam Train" episode, which was filmed on the Battlefield Line. I haven't found any reference to the SVRSevern Valley Railway in connection with R&J, although I haven't sat down to watch all 176 episodes either! --Robin (talk) 17:55, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Inside Severn Valley Railway

I came across a Wikipedia page for a 6 part series called 'Inside Severn Valley Railway'. There is a 30 second trailer on Vimeo. It was scheduled to air in late 2015, however I do not not remember any publicity either for the filming or broadcasting of it. Official and promotional videos

The official and promotional videos section has had nothing added since Jan 2019. The SVRSevern Valley Railway now regularly produces material, I’ve counted around 30 in the last 12 months with 3 currently in edit. I’m minded to cover this with a note that says from around 2020 the SVRSevern Valley Railway moved into frequent videos and not seek to list them all? Mad Dogs

I think that is quite likely. I'd spent some time previously looking for references to Mad Dogs in conjunction with the SVRSevern Valley Railway, but without success. The filming info in the Hampton Loade entry on Wikipedia was rather iffy; I'd already edited it to remove "Oh Brother" which was filmed at Arley. John Axom

On 1 September 1971 8233 was briefly renumbered 48188 for a film concerning the heroism of Driver John Axon G.C. who was killed when the real 48188 ran away at Chapel-en-le-Frith in 1957. Filming involving freight train scenes took place on 1 September 1971.^[1] Details the resulting film are required.

David Cooke has a photo. A search shows 1971 saw the release of The Ballad of John Axon and it's possible it could be related to this?--Patrick Hearn (talk) 13:29, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

I suppose it could be. The text in David's book doesn't mention any sort of music connection and 1971 was a bit before the era of the music video, especially for folk musicians. Maybe the release of MacColl's album generated interest and resulted in a TV documentary on Axon (or a TV documentary on Axon resulted in MacColl's album!). I haven't found anything film related via Google, Youtube or the IMDB. As a side note, I see David's own photo has the 48188 cab number but 8233's own smokebox number. The photo on p.44. of David's book (credited to A Wilkinson) has the loco chimney first with a 48188 smokebox number at the head of a freight train alongside Pan Pudding Hill. --Robin (talk) 23:05, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
