I have updated the dates from the two links but left reference to Sharpness. The VCT database casts doubt on the claim it is the last and says it is one of several. There is a link to one pf the Lincolnshire Wolds railway though that doesn't show a build date. Anyone have any books?--Patrick Hearn (talk) 21:40, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

The claim of it being the only known survivor of over 18,000 came from the last SVR stock book which is almost 20 years old, so others may have been found since. Our example is No 42177 to Diagram O.21, Lot 556 of 1890. Atkins et al 'History of GWR Goods Wagons' confirms there were "about 18,784" wagons to Diagram O.21, matching the "over 18,000". Looking at the VCT database and narrowing the filter, there appear to be just 2 other GWR 4-wheel 4-plank 9ft Opens of Diagram O.21 (I think the un-numbered Lincs Wold one is a longer wagon, therefore of later Diagram/date). The other two to Diagram O.21 are 52137 and 52243 of 1892, Lots 635 and 640 respectively, and both are just frames. If not unique, that still makes ours the oldest known surviving and only complete example. Any additional thoughts from Wagon experts would be welcome, but meanwhile I'll tweak the wording accordingly. --Robin (talk) 23:15, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Eardington is situated on Eardington Bank, mid-way between Bridgnorth and Hampton Loade. In recent years, rebuilding the platform was completed in 2019 and the water tower was dismantled in 2021. For 101 years between 1862 and 1963, the Severn Valley Railway formed part of the national railway network, running for 40 miles between Hartlebury and Shrewsbury. Established as a separate company, it was mainly operated by the Great Western Railway (GWRGreat Western Railway) and later by British Railways (BRBritish Rail or British Railways).

The present day Severn Valley Railway (SVRSevern Valley Railway) was established in 1965 to preserve part of the line as a heritage railway. Today it has six stations and two halts and runs for 16 miles along the Severn Valley between Bridgnorth in Shropshire and Kidderminster in Worcestershire, following the course of the River Severn for much of its route. Operations involve a mixture of steam and heritage diesel-hauled services.

This unofficial website is a project aimed to collect information and record events relating to the SVRSevern Valley Railway, both past and present.
