I assume the length/width of the Wyre Forest coal field refer to North/South length and East/West width? It may be worth clarifying, although the extend is described in the text anyway. --Danny252 (talk) 17:20, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

Graham, I presume the reported 1910 bore for a coal mine in Wyre Forest would have been adjacent to the Bewdley/Tenbury branch on the other side of Dowles Bridge, rather than on the SVRSevern Valley Railway? Presumably one could trace the spot by measuring half a mile along the railway from Wyre Forest Stn towards Bewdley, I've had a quick OSOrdnance Survey check but the map was 1904 so nothing was there. Just a thought.--Patrick Hearn (talk) 20:06, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

A mile and a half from Wyre Forest station towards Bewdley and next to the railway would certainly be on the Tenbury Branch. The 1925 OS Map (1925 revision) doesn't show anything in that area; it would be roughly where the words "Tenbury Branch" appear on the map. If any significant mining had taken place in the 1900s, it would surely have used the railway but I've seen nothing to suggest it did in articles on mining in the area or railway publications. I suspect they may have sunk a borehole to test for coal but gone no further than that. I'm not sure the GWRGreat Western Railway would have been very happy with a mine being that close to the railway either! An interesting find all the same. --Robin (talk) 22:27, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
