Talk:BR Class 50 50031 Hood

'The English Electric Type 4 (later BR Class 50) diesel locomotive was the last main-line diesel locomotive designed for BR.' Would the 56/58/60 not fall into this category?--Patrick Hearn (talk) 21:48, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

Good point! "Citation required" as they say on Wikipedia. I'm not sure, but I think the original source was the Stock Book which actually reads "...paved the way for the design of the last main-line diesel passenger locomotive for British Railways. The 56/58/60 were all Type 5 heavy freight locos which would fit with that, and according to Wikipedia the only subsequent Type 4 was the Class 57 which was a rebuilt Class 47 so not really a new design. I'll tweak the wording and cite the stock book so we know who to blame if it's wrong! --Robin (talk) 14:25, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
With Class 43s being designated as power cars rather than locomotives, presumably! Yes, let them blame the Stock Book!--Patrick Hearn (talk) 12:58, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
