Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Show

Location of the showground showing the wider embankment to accommodate the siding

The 1896 Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Show was held at the Old Regatta Ground, about a mile and a half north of Bridgnorth on 1 - 3 July.

At a meeting of the show committee in January, opinions were expressed that a railway siding was essential to the success of the show. The cost would be £250, with the GWR willing to accept a contribution of half that amount from the show committee. The siding would allow the simultaneous unloading of 20 horse boxes, 20 wagons and one traction engine[1]
