GWR 7812 Erlestoke Manor

On September 1 in SVR history.

  • 1963 Kidderminster Shed became shed 2P under 2 Rugby when responsibility for the area was transferred from the Western Region of BR to the London Midland Region. 11 locomotives were allocated from classes 4300, 5101, 5600, 5700 and 08 (diesel shunter).[1]
  • 1971 Filming involving freight train scenes took place on the SVR. LMS 8233 was renumbered 48188 for the film, which concerned the heroism of Driver John Axon G.C. who was killed when the real 48188 ran away at Chapel-en-le-Frith in 1957.[2]
  • 1979 Newly-restored 7812 was officially re-named "Erlestoke Manor" in a ceremony at Bewdley.[3]
  • 2015 Formal notice was given to transfer ownership of GWR 'Toad' 17410 to the SVR Charitable Trust[4].
