In winter of 1994 the SVR(H) Board announced the sale of 45690 Leander and 45699 Galatea to the family of Dr. Peter Beet.  Galatea has since been restored to working order, returning to steam in April 2013 and now operated on the mainline by the West Coast Railway Co, Carnforth.

As of 2018 she is owned by the Beet family, and operated on the main line by West Coast Railways.

In August 1953 Galatea was derailed and overturned whilst hauling a passenger train at Wilnecote[1]. The locomotive was repaired and continued in service until being withdrawn by BRBritish Rail or British Railways in 1964.
