==45699 in service==
She was purchased in 1980 by Leander Locomotive Limited as a source of spare parts for her sister engine. Both were purchased by [[Severn Valley Railway (Holdings) PLC | SVR(H)]] in November 1983 as part of the deal to acquire Leander. At that time Galatea was stored at Carnforth in ex-Barry condition, but in April 1987 space was no longer available at Carnforth and Galatea was moved to the SVR, still being regarded as no more than a source of parts.
In winter of 1994 the SVR(H) Board announced the sale of 45690 Leander and 45699 Galatea to the family of Dr. Peter Beetand also of 45699 Galatea to another unnamed purchaser.<ref>SVR News 113</ref> Ownership subsequently passed to the North of England Historic Railway Trust Limited which was incorporated in 2002<ref>Companies House</ref>.
