1978 | Arrived on SVRSevern Valley Railway |
2300 was originally purchased for the SVRSevern Valley Railway in February 1978 by a member of the LMS & BR Coach Fund. It arrived on the SVRSevern Valley Railway as an empty shell from Bass Charrington in Plymouth, where it had been used by the barrel-making department. In a six-year restoration it was fitted out with an interior salvaged from coach 13045 which was scrapped. After a period of use it was repainted in the then new Kidderminster paint-shop during 1997. The LMSLondon Midland & Scottish Railway & BRBritish Rail or British Railways Coach Fund donated all its vehicles to The SVR Charitable Trust in 2007, following which 2300 received a further repaint in 2008.
2300 is regularly used in the LMSLondon Midland & Scottish Railway Maroon set (Set L).
