12992 in preservation

Following service, 12992 was purchased in working order, arriving on the SVRSevern Valley Railway from Plymouth in December 1972. It ran on SVRSevern Valley Railway services until 1984, when it was withdrawn for a full rebuild. It also received a repaint at Kidderminster Carriage Repair Works in 1997.

The former owning group, the ‘LMSLondon Midland & Scottish Railway & BRBritish Rail or British Railways Coach Fund’ donated all its vehicles to The SVR Charitable Trust in 2007.

12992 forms part of Set L, the LMSLondon Midland & Scottish Railway Maroon set in pre-War LMD livery, notwithstanding that it was not built until after nationalisation.
