12992 in preservation
Following service, 12992 was purchased in working order, arriving on the SVRSevern Valley Railway from Plymouth on 9 December 1972. It ran on SVRSevern Valley Railway services until 1984, when it was withdrawn for a full rebuild. It also received a repaint at Kidderminster Carriage Repair Works in 1997.
The former owning group, the ‘LMSLondon Midland & Scottish Railway & BRBritish Rail or British Railways Coach Fund’ donated all its vehicles to The SVR Charitable Trust in 2007.
12992 forms part of Set L, the LMSLondon Midland & Scottish Railway Maroon set in pre-War LMD livery, notwithstanding that it was not built until after nationalisation.
