On January 5 in SVR history.
- 1970 The Light Railway Order granted to BR was published. This enabled the SVR to apply for their own Order to take over and operate the newly created Light Railway.[1]
- 1971 GWR Hawksworth First Sleeper 9082 arrived on the SVR from Didcot.[2] It departed in 2005.
