MINK was originally the generic GWRGreat Western Railway telegraphic code for a covered goods van, and after 1909 more specifically the 16ft non-vac fitted type. The MINK A was a vac or non-vac ventilated version. [1]

Built in 1914 to Diagram V16, Lot 742, 93045 was one of 2,260 10-ton MINK A goods vans built to that diagram. As built, V16 was non-vac fitted, with DCIII brakes, GWRGreat Western Railway self-contained buffers, and bonnets (rather than shutters or louvres) covering the end ventilators.[2] It later carried Internal UserRolling stock used for the railway’s internal purposes (stores etc.) at one fixed location. number I/U 064722.[3]

In preservation, 93045 arrived at the National Waterways Museum in July 1990.[3] It was put up for sale in 2008 after the owner was asked to remove it, and was acquired by The GWR 813 Preservation Fund, moving to the SVRSevern Valley Railway on 31 August. It was in good condition on arrival, requiring only two floor planks to be fitted and a re-paint to match existing MINK A 93016[3][4]
