9085 was built in 1951, one of a small batch of four sleeping cars built to this design for the London to Milford Haven route. All four carriages survived into preservation, with three of them finding a home on the SVRSevern Valley Railway. 9085 is normally parked at the end of Siding 2 at Arley station, where it is used for staff accommodation.
