GWR 42138 'Loriot D' Machinery Truck

42138 was built at Swindon in 1909 (SVR Stock Book 9th Edition states 1908) to Diagram G18, Lot 584. It has a capacity of 15 tons. Originally designated a Loriot B, it was re-classified as a Loriot D in 1909[1], and as a "Lowmac WR" by BR post-nationalisation.

The wagon remained in service with the GWR and later BR(W) until 1984, when it was sent to Barry Scrapyard. It was rescued from there and arrived on the SVR on 16 August 1984. It is owned by The GWR 813 Preservation Fund and is one of only two surviving Loriot Ds.[2]
