Built in 1890, 41277 is the oldest wagon on the SVR and the only known survivor of over 18000 four plank open wagons built by the GWR between 1886 and 1902. Bought by by [[The GWR 813 Preservation Fund]] in 1992 from Sharpness Docks, where it is believed it had been since being condemned by the GWR in 1935.<br>
The grease axle boxes were replaced with 'OK' oil axle boxes in 1910 and the original single sided brakes were upgraded in 1928 to comply with Board Of Trade regulations by having a second lever operating a single shoe added to the other side.<ref>http://www.gwr813.org/gwr813newsletter_B1.htm</ref><ref>A history of GWR goods wagons.
