Summary

This photo is taken from the SVRSevern Valley Railway trackbed. The signal box is to the left and the concrete walking route roughly follows the line the SVRSevern Valley Railway would have taken in its divergence from the main line. Shrewsbury station is approximately 2/3 of a mile northwards, to the left of this picture as the mainline takes a leftward curve. Shrewsbury Abbey can be seen, site of the Shropshire & Montgomeryshire Light Railway's station and in later years an oil terminal, accessed via a reverse movement utilising a short length of the SVRSevern Valley Railway.
