Barry Railway Carriage was built as a 6-wheeled carriage hence the use of this code, although the present restoration incorporates a replacement 4-wheeled underfame for which the equivalent carriage type would by 'CY'.

Carriage type CZ (CompositeCarriage having more than one class of seating, ie First and Third or latterly First and Standard. 6-wheeled) designates a non-corridor carriage with compartments for the use of more than one class of passenger. The suffix 'Z' denotes a 6-wheeled vehicle. BarryWoodham Brothers Scrapyard, Barry, South Wales. The source of many locomotives now in preservation. Railway Carriage was built as a 6-wheeled carriage hence the use of this code, although the present restoration incorporates a replacement 4-wheeled underfame for which the equivalent carriage type would by 'CY'.
