BR Tourist Second Open 5960

BRBritish Rail or British Railways Mark 2f Tourist Second Open (TSO) 5960 was built at Derby in 1973 to diagram number 109 of lot number 30860. It has 64 seats.[1]

5960 in preservation

After BRBritish Rail or British Railways service it was purchased by by Eastern Rail Services (ERS) by 2012. It is one of a rake of Mark 2 vehicles operated by ERS and based on the Mid-Norfolk Railway (MNR), where it is used on services. The rake is also from time-to-time hired to other railways, in particular the Weardale Railway for their Polar Express trains.[2][3]

5960 at the SVRSevern Valley Railway

One such hire was in May 2017 to the SVRSevern Valley Railway for the Spring Diesel Festival, its air-braking capability being used by visiting mainline locomotives. 5960 was painted in Virgin Trains livery.
