BR Mark 1 Corridor Composite (CK) 16169 was built at Derby in 1961 to diagram number 126, lot number 30665. In 1984 it was renumbered as 7169.

16169 arrived on the SVR in August 1989 from Heaton, Newcastle having been purchased by SVR(H). It has seen use in the BR Maroon set, but by 2006 was described by the Railway Heritage Register Carriage Survey as "externally very shabby and due for refurbishment".
