Since its formation in 1965, the Severn Valley Railway has won many awards from various railway, heritage, tourism or other organisations.

  • 1979 Arley: Ian Allan Best preserved station[1]
  • 1979 Severn Valley Railway: ARPSAssociation of Railway Preservation Societies award for returning five engines to steam, 2857,[2]4930, 5164, 7812 and LMS 5000.[3]
  • 1980 Arley: Ian Allan Best preserved station[1]
  • 1983 Arley: Association of Railway Preservation Societies Best Restored Station Winners Award[1]
  • 1984 Arley: Ian Allan Best preserved station[1]
  • 1985 Arley: Association of Railway Preservation Societies award for exceptional merit[1]
  • 1986 Highley: Association of Railway Preservation Societies Best Restored Station Champions Award[4]
  • 1986 Arley: Association of Railway Preservation Societies Best Restored Station First Class Award (runners up to Highley)[1]
  • 1987 Highley: Association of Railway Preservation Societies, First Class Award[4]
  • 1987 Kidderminster: Association of Railway Preservation Societies BRBritish Rail or British Railways Award for the most meritorious entry[7][8]
  • 1992 Kidderminster signal box: Ian Allan Railway Heritage Awards, the Westinghouse Signalling Ltd award for Best restored signalling[9]
  • 1999 Severn Valley Railway: Heart of England Tourism Awards 1999, Tourism For All award, Highly Commended.[11]
  • 2000 Severn valley Railway: Heart Of England Tourism Awards 2000, Visitor Attraction Of The Year, Highly Commended.[11]
  • 2002 Bridgnorth was a category winner in the 2002 'Bridgnorth in Bloom' competition.[12]

  • 2018 ‘No Barriers’ Mike Oborski Awards for access for people with disabilities in the Wyre Forest area.[50]
  • 2019 The King & Castle won the "Wyre Forest CAMRA Pub of the Year 2019"[51]
  • 2019 Bridgnorth Station was shortlisted for the 'Refurbishment' category of the Brick Development Association 'Brick awards'.[52]
  • 2020 Class 50 Alliance Limited: Heritage Railway Association Awards, Coiley Locomotive Engineering Award runner up for the restoration of 50033 'Glorious'[53]


Prior to the preservation era, the GWRGreat Western Railway and BRBritish Rail or British Railways awarded a number of prizes for the gardens at various SVRSevern Valley RailwaySVRA:Severn Valley Railway AssociationSVRS:Severn Valley Railway Society stations, including to Arley Station Master, Mr. George Batchelor, who was awarded several prizes by The Great Western Railway in the early 1900s for the gardens at Arley Station.[54], Mr J T Hill who was awarded prizes in 1919, 1920 & 1921 while station master at Hampton Loade and also in 1923, 1924 & 1925 while station master at Arley.
T. Brick won a certificate of merit from the Ministry of Agriculture for growing vegetables at Highley in 1944.[55]

Highley Station won 3rd prize in the British Railways (Western Region) Station gardens competition in 1953 & 1954.[4]
