On April 13 in SVRSevern Valley Railway history.

  • 1771 Richard Trevithick was born. A replica of his locomotive Catch Me Who Can is under construction at Bridgnorth.[1]
  • 1961 Future resident 4930 Hagley Hall received a new boiler during her last heavy general overhaul at Swindon.[2]
  • 1968 Following the closure of Stourbridge MPDMotive Power Depot its steam crane GWR RS38 and match trucks were acquired, and arrived on the SVRSevern Valley Railway.
  • 1968 The Easter Steam Gala featured No 3205. Large crowds resulted in long waiting times, hindered by the lack of a run round loop and sufficient coaches. It raised around £600. At this time galas operated with the tacit approval of BRBritish Rail or British Railways.[3]
  • 1977 The episode 'Bridgehead' of the TV series Survivors was first broadcast. A number of scenes were filmed around Highley, with 48773 (as LMS 8233) propelling several carriages into the station in the closing scenes.
  • 1991 StanierWilliam Stanier, Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway 1932-1944 mogul 42968, then numbered LMSLondon Midland & Scottish Railway 2968, entered service following a 17 year restoration from ex-BarryWoodham Brothers Scrapyard, Barry, South Wales. The source of many locomotives now in preservation. condition.[4]
  • 2001 A First Great Western HST operated an excursion from Barnstaple to Bridgnorth and return.[5]
  • 2012 The Parliamentary All-Party Rail Heritage Group enjoyed a day at the railway.[6]
  • 2015 HRH The Princess Royal visited the SVRSevern Valley Railway.[7]
  • 2016 50031 Hood returned from RVEL, Derby where it had been painted in non-authentic Inter City livery.
