The SVR can call on a fleet of approximately 8 steam locomotives, 4 diesel locomotives, a 5 car (3+2) DMU, 65 carriages and several goods wagons.
There are several more locomotives, both steam and diesel currently undergoing long term repair.
The carriages are normally operated as six rakes of 7 or 8 carriages, one rake each of BR maroon, GWR chocolate & cream, BR crimson & cream, LNER teak, LMS maroon plus one GWR chocolate & cream diner set.
A number of the goods wagons are used for demonstration freight trains.
